Exempt yourself from the surcharge by purchasing an annual highway sticker!

If you enter the highway without a highway vignette, you have 60 minutes to retroactively purchase the missing vignette. Otherwise, you are likely to be obliged to pay a surcharge. If you wish to avoid paying the surcharge, you can do so by purchasing the annual national vignette within 75 days from the day of receiving the payment demand for the surcharge.

Previously purchased annual national vignettes for another vehicle cannot be transferred to your own vehicle in such cases, nor can a highway vignette purchased for the purpose of exemption from surcharge be transferred to another car in the future under any circumstances! If the application for exemption from the penalty with an annual vignette is not submitted by the vehicle's owner or operator, a power of attorney is required for individuals, and a corporate power of attorney for legal entities.

Annual highway vignette instead of surcharge payment

If you decide you do not want to pay the surcharge, you can request that your penalty be canceled by presenting the receipt of your purchased annual national highway vignette. Important! To make this "exchange," do not pay your fine, as only unpaid fines can be exchanged for a national highway vignette. You have 75 days from the receipt of the surcharge payment demand letter to do this, which can be done in writing (by post or email) to the Nemzeti Útdíjfizetési Szolgáltató Zrt. (National Toll Payment Services Plc.) or its cooperating partner's mailing/email address, or in person at any of the NÚSZ Zrt. customer service offices.
